Inspiring Our Youth at YWAM: A Day at the Mission Field

The Mission Front | Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas — To wrap up its first year, The Mission Front headed downtown to meet with Brother Haruna, director of the Las Vegas chapter of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). A missionary from Ghana, Brother Haruna answered God's call to bring his family to Las Vegas to serve some of the least reached in the city. He welcomed the group by sharing a brief history of YWAM before personally guiding them through the facility.

With no visiting missionaries on site that day, the group had the unique opportunity to freely explore the space. Students leaned into the experience with curiosity — asking thoughtful questions and taking in the details of the decorated dorm rooms, offices, and gathering areas where missionaries live, study, worship, and pray together.

Brother Haruna then led the group into their main training classroom, where he shared the 18 foundational principles that guide YWAM — such as "Knowing God," "Making God Known," and "Championing Young People." These principles gave families a clear window into the heart behind YWAM's ministry and the value of involving their students in both short- and long-term mission opportunities.

The group then watched two videos featuring missionaries currently serving in the field. One of the most impactful moments for students was hearing Brother Haruna's personal testimony — how he felt God leading him to become a missionary in Las Vegas. He closed by encouraging the group to lean into God's leading and remain open to how He wants to use each of them for His Kingdom.

Message from Braulio

Grace and Peace,

"Mission YWAM" lived up to its name, fulfilling its mission and inspiring both students and parents.

Scripture tells us in Matthew 9:37, "Jesus said to His followers, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.'" One of the greatest privileges we have as God's Church is to share the gospel and make disciples. When we seek God with all our hearts and align ourselves with His purpose, He is faithful to lead us into His work as His laborers.

Through programs and ministries like YWAM, our students are given incredible opportunities to explore the many ways God can prepare them for their calling. As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, let's continue to partner together — not only by getting our students involved in the opportunities The Mission Front provides, but by leading by example through our own character and devotion to the Lord.

— Braulio

“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

— Matthew 9:37–38, NIV
